Can Picafort (Santa Margalida), pet friendly village

According to a model of sustainable development, the City Council has decided to welcome all those who travel with their pets in our district. Therefore, owners and pets can enjoy a pleasant stay in the city, with the assurance that they will be well received.
In Can Picafort, we have several areas designated for use by our pets:
- A beach (Na Patana) located in Can Picafort beside Bauló Beach.
- Two CANiPARK, areas made into doggie parks.
Can Picafort is a tourist area with a good selection of accommodation, mostly beachside Hotels, but contrary to many other areas on the island, it is not only a holiday resort but a village with all the idiosyncrasies of normal life in a small coastal town. Its history has been documented since 1860, the oldest part being its centre, with its simple houses and wide terraces.  They were built from the jetty, where nowadays the marina is located.

Can Picafort is located in the Northwest of the island of Mallorca, in the very centre of the Bay of Alcudia, the biggest bay in the Balearics, with 17 kilometres of beach. Preserved areas of woods extend towards the east, with only two small villages and very little tourist development.  At this end of the bay is Cap Farrutx, one of the most beautiful areas of the island, with cliffs and pine groves. It is therefore difficult to access by car, but not by boat or hiking.
Towards the interior, cultivated fields surround the village of Santa Margalida, the original nucleus of the population of the municipality.
The distance to Palma is 54 km; half of this distance is made up of the motorway, which runs right across the middle of the island.
You can get to Can Picafort by public transport using the bus & train station at Plaza España in Palma. If you choose to travel by bus then take the 390 line.  If you use the train take the one going to Muro, with a connection to Can Picafort.

Cultural routes

Can Picafort is located in the middle of the biggest bay in the Balearic Islands, between two natural parks and long white sandy beaches which are ideal for hiking.
Son Real Park

The Son Real public estate is a natural and historical treasure. It is located on the north-eastern coast of Mallorca, on the Can Picafort to Artá road. Its 395 hectares contain an old farmhouse, archaeological sites, a group of ecosystems with areas of dunes and Spanish juniper and pine groves, former sand quarries, sighting towers, 4 walking routes and 3 cycling routes, an exclusive riding agenda and an information office, which offers bicycles and binoculars.
